The 2007 Accountability Ratings have just been released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
The LTISD was given a 2007 Accountability Rating of only “Academically Acceptable.” Did you also know that this is the LOWEST acceptable rating available from the TEA? This is the second year in a row as “Academically Acceptable.” I can’t wait to hear the district spin the “Rocky facts” as to why it happened again.
Of course not, unless you used the TPIA to get the results. I have a copy of the preliminary TAKS results presented at the last Board meeting and have posted a copy for you to readTPIA.
Did you also know that this is the LOWEST acceptable rating available from the TEA. The district claims that the cause of this is due to 5-7 students. The number varies between 5 and 7 depending on who you hear it from, but nevertheless, the TEA published standards for academic ratings make this claim difficult to believe.
See for yourself. The graph shows that since 2001, the superintendent’s salary increased by 85% while teacher’s salaries increased by only 9%.
Did you know that between 2001 and 2006, we have experienced 13% inflation? That means that the teacher’s pay has not kept pace with inflation, but the superintendent’s pay (not including all of the other benefits) has outpaced inflation by over 650%!
Since everyone, including the LTISD, teaches to the TAKS test, it was time to make sure that the children will pass this test later.
They first have to see just where they need to concentrate, thus the “pre-test.”TPIA
