Parents of a Westlake HS student have filed formal complaints against the Eanes ISD Superintendent Nola Wellman. They claim that she violated the states public information laws.

Guess what? The complainant’s grievance will be heard by the superintendent herself! The Austin American Statesman article goes on to say:

“Wellman is scheduled to hear the Evanses’ complaint against her, present her side of the story and rule on the complaint.

If the Evanses disagree with her ruling, they can appeal to the school board.

Having the superintendent preside over the hearing is `the most astonishing thing I’ve ever seen,’ Smith said. `I’ve been a lawyer for more than 20 years, and I have never seen a case in which the accused is the judge, the jury, the witness and the investigator.’ “

And I thought things were really screwed up here at the LTISD!

BTW: Did you know that Nola Wellman is superintendent of a district of over 7,300 students and only gets paid $216.757.80? Compare that to Rocky Kirk’s 6,100 students and $247,840.64  salary (this is not the recently approved salary increase for Rocky, more on that outrage later).

Oh, and did I forget to mention that Nola was at a district that has been rated by the TEA as better than “academically acceptable” in recent years. It was not until this year that Rocky has been able to pull off a rating better than “academically acceptable.”

Nola Wellman, might have violated the public information laws, but it would appear that the Eanes ISD gets a better deal for their money.

Oh, I almost forgot, Nola seems to be in the middle of a tax payment controversy?  She must have gone to the Mayo Davidson school of tax contempt?
