I tell you, I can’t make stuff like this up!
Hey Rocky, did you know about this? It was you who promoted “Loosey Goosey” to the Director or Special Services. Remember?
I have obtained a copy of an exit “Employee Questionnaire”TPIA from one of “Loosey Goosey’s” staff.
Since the copy of the questionnaire is difficult to read, I have transcribed the text of this document below.
Read it and ask yourself: Fact or fiction? I don’t think you can make up stuff like this. Even Rocky and the Board could not make up something this far out.
EMPLOYEE QUESTIONAIRE:
What did you like about your experience as an employee of LTISD?
“In the very short amount of time that I was employed with the LTISD, I was very amazed at how friendly and welcoming every one has to been to me; especially the staff located at the central administration building.”
What did you dislike about your experience as an employee of LTISD?
“My time working within the district has been a very short one, and for the most part, very pleasurable. However, I would like to comment on a few items that I truly disliked about my position as the XXX to the Director of Special Services.
Upon acceptance of the position, I was led to believe that I would be providing the typical XXX, as it was stated in the LTISD job description. However, the Director had her own interpretation of what the job entailed, and much to her own personal benefit. From the very first day on, I was ask to do a multitude of tasks that I found to be demeaning, time consuming and inappropriate for an XXX in today’s modern world. I was asked to pick up tickets (on the Director’s behalf) for an after school event. I was also asked to personally bring ice cold drinks to the Director in her office and to check on her every 20 minutes to make sure she has everything she needs. To make matters worse, one day I was opening the mail and I mistakenly left a set of documents in the brown envelope in which it came in. As I handed the opened mail to the Director (along with the opened brown envelope), she would not accept the mail at all. She told me that she would not look at her mail until I got rid of the one brown envelope because she hates envelopes. And lastly, each day that the Director was in the office, I could not get any of my tasks done in a timely manner due to the personal attention that the Director requires every 2 minutes. Please understand that this is no exaggeration.
I have worked with several types of personalities and can just about accommodate or work around my supervisors needs. However, in this case, the Director requires her XXX to become her personal secretary, which is absolutely inappropriate and unethical with the education workforce. Her managerial skills over her immediate staff are unfair, manipulative and condescending. Over the course of my employment at Special Services, there were many times that I was placed in uncomfortable situations. During the uncomfortable situations, I could not say `no’ for the simple fact that the Director makes these unrealistic requests in front of a lot of people. This kind of situation can be hard on a support person who does not want to negate their supervisor’s requests in front of a bunch of people.
Ultimately, all of these incidents described above have led me to resign my position. Although I enjoyed working with the other staff members, I was truly unhappy and felt that I did not fit under the Director’s personal expectations.”
Do you have any comments or suggestions to improve LTISD?
“Yes. The LTISD management needs to consider having a counseling session with the Director of Special Services to find out why she treats her support staff as if they are servants. I truly have respect for the Director and realize that she has an abundance amount of work to do for her department and may be overwhelmed by it all. However, this does not give her the right to treat her support staff as if they are complete imbiscles; this truly causes resentment in the work place. I also would recommend that management obtain feedback from the Director’s previous support staff members. This will enable management to get a better feel as to the kinds of unacceptable behaviors that the Director is capable of doing.”
Would you recommend LTISD to others as a place to work?
“Yes, Absolutely. Despite my experience within the Special Services Department, I think LTISD is a great place to work and I would definitely recommend anyone to work here. “
Rocky, was this another cause for “Loosey Goosey’s” reassignment?
Did this raise the morale of the Special Services Department?
