I have some choice statements made by LTISD Board members during the August 18, 2007 Board Workshop. It’s almost as if we were sitting in on a public meeting of the Politburo as the members of the Central Committee made some outrageous statements. They don’t really sound like the “the vanguard of the people”.

Remember, these people are spending OUR tax dollars:

First we have Mayo Davidson and his comments on taxes and utilities. Do you know that he hates taxes? Don’t be confused, he likes to spend our tax dollars but we still want to know how much he contributes as his fair share of their wasteful spending. It must be good to be a member of the Central Committee! I guess it is to the gulag, I mean “re-education camp”, for me.

Mayo can’t seem to keep his mouth shut. He even says so in this video: “I always have a comment on some sort”. He reminds me of Foghorn Leghorn, the “Loud Mouthed Shnook”. I really would like to know what he is talking about in this clip and just where he heard these comments. Perhaps he can explain it to us?

Susan Tolles says that the district is now so sophisticated, better than in 2001 when she first became a board member. I guess she forgot that she was the Board President last year and that in the past 11 years, the LTISD was “academically acceptable” only 3 times, twice in the last two consecutive years!

Then we have Kim Nixon who believes that the LTISD has their own measures for the the Lake Travis High School which are different than the state standards. I guess this would explain why the Lake Travis High School was rated only “academically acceptable” even when about 500 of the 1,600 students are taking advanced placement course work (these numbers were also stated during the August 13, 2007 Board Workshop).
