Did you know that the LTISD has a new Director or Special Education (Special Services)?

Becky Burnett is the new LTISD Director or Special Education. You heard it here first!

I have obtained a copy of her job application with the LTISDTPIA.

It seems that unlike our new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instructional Services, she actually filled out an application BEFORE signing her contract! How does that happen? Oh, I guess she did not come from the Spring ISD (the same district which begat Rocky) and thus could not bypass the normal employment sequence? Hmm ….

One question though: How did she meet the posted requirement of a “Texas mid-management or other appropriate Texas certificate”?

She states that she only has a “Special Education Generic (PK-12)” and a “Speech and Language Therapy (PK-12)” certificate. I cannot verify either one of these since I cannot find them after searching either one of her listed names on the State Board for Educator Certification, Official Record of Educator Certificates web page. I guess I will have to use the TPIA to get a copy of them from the LTISD. Can’t say I did not try to avoid having to ask them for information.

Let’s welcome her to the LTISD and hope that she did not do anything as embarrassing as be associated with something like “Autism: The Sky is Falling!” Perhaps she can repair the damage caused by the former Director of Special Services? Let’s hope so.
